Updated: October 13, 2024

This five-star hotel on the exclusive Le Morne Peninsula provides personalized luxury and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for romantic couples and kite surfing enthusiasts. With a stunning mountain backdrop, the hotel features Balinese-style architecture, a genuine Thai restaurant, a top-notch spa, and unique experiences.

Location

Protected from the wind by the impressive Le Morne Brabant mountain, the hotel is situated on the south’s most stunning stretch of soft white sand, lined with palm trees, where dolphins play just offshore. The Le Morne Peninsula is ideal for learning kite-surfing and is near the renowned kiting spot, ‘One Eye.’

Style and Character

Located on the quieter side of the island, LUX* Le Morne is perfect for relaxation and romance. The lobby offers a view of the sea, and five beautifully designed swimming pools, including two heated ones and one with a swim-up bar, wind through the grounds. The LUX* Me spa adds to the serene atmosphere. The hotel layout is straightforward, with rooms arranged in two wings and a central area nestled in tropical gardens near the beach, along with a hammock in the sea. A recent makeover has brightened up the spaces, making them more welcoming.

The focus here is on creating unique experiences, like private cinema screenings, candlelit dinners, and yoga in a treehouse by the sea. Guests can enjoy a 500-candle dinner on the beach, or one lucky couple can experience a complimentary private meal at Vik’s Fisherman’s Shack, sampling local delicacies like sea urchin and octopus. A special sunset aperitif on Le Morne mountain, complete with a butler, is a popular choice for proposals, with the ring delivered by drone.

Service and Facilities

The friendly and attentive staff handle requests efficiently while respecting guests’ privacy. A wellness concierge at the spa can help customize experiences, such as combining a Coconut Ritual with complimentary yoga sessions. Guests can enjoy cooking classes, explore the area on electric bikes, or take lessons at the on-site kite-surfing school. A photo booth offers cameras, GoPros, and drones for hire. All services and activities can be arranged through the LUX* app.

Rooms

The 149 rooms and suites, decorated with white shutters, light woods, and calming neutrals, are both stylish and comfortable. Each room features marble bathrooms, a custom tropical bar, and cloud-like beds. Superior rooms, popular with young honeymooners, overlook the pool and tropical gardens and are close to the beach. Suites feature polished wooden floors, standalone bathtubs, and double daybeds for relaxing on the terrace. Prestige junior suites include outdoor showers, while ocean junior suites are housed in Balinese-style single-story chalets. Sunset junior suites on the first floor have high ceilings and whirlpool baths with sea views. Rooms in the L’Ilot wing are closer to the beach and the ice cream kiosk.

Food and Drink

With five dining options, there’s something for every taste. Enjoy romantic à la carte evenings on the terrace at the authentic Thai restaurant EAST. The Beach serves Mediterranean dishes, including lobster nights, while the pop-up Island Kitchen offers street food like banana flambéed with rum. The main buffet restaurant features a Mauritian Corner with live cooking by local women. A small sushi restaurant with a sake cellar was added in 2022. The revamped beach bar is a popular spot for sunset drinks. Maison LUX* café, inspired by Parisian macaron shops like La Durée, serves LUX* brand coffee and offers barista workshops. Guests can enjoy homemade ice cream by the pool and toast marshmallows over a brazier by the beach.

The hotel offers creative entertainment, including fire eater shows on the beach at the weekly cocktail events, DJs, jazz, and live music at the nightly buffet.
