La Prairie beach

La Prairie beach is located between Baie du Cap and Le Morne Brabant in the south of Mauritius, about 10-15 minutes drive from Le Morne beach. The area of the beach is quite large and you will also find grassy areas, from which it gets its name (meadow or prairie). The beach offers spectacular views of Mount Morne and the lagoon.

La Prairie is also the starting point for seaplane excursions, during which you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mauritius' most underwater “waterfall”.

La Prairie Beach Infrastructure

The parking lot on the beach is spontaneous, but there is always room for parking. Unfortunately, the infrastructure of the beach is limited.

What to do on La Prairie Beach

• Swimming and snorkeling: the crystal clear water and coral will allow you to enjoy the amazing underwater world
• Kitesurfing and windsurfing: the winds in this area of the island attract many water sports enthusiasts
• Seaplane tours: see the underwater waterfall from above

How to get to La Prairie Beach

La Prairie Beach is located in the south of the island, from the capital, Port Louis, the journey will take about an hour (~50 km).
