La Cambuse beach

Updated: September 6, 2024

La Cambuse beach is a secluded beach in the South East of the island, unlike the more popular and crowded beaches on the island, La Cambuse remains relatively sparsely visited, making it ideal for those seeking peace and quiet away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

The beach is located very close to the airport, and in some places there are signs posted near the beach prohibiting entry to the area. Tourists often confuse these with a ban on entry to the beach itself, so La Cambuse remains almost deserted. However, the beach is well equipped with benches where you can sit and enjoy the sound of the waves, as well as beach huts. From La Camboise, a path leads westward to even more secluded beaches, and the public beach of Le Bouchon is easily reached on foot.

The beach is covered in soft, light-colored sand and the water is turquoise and crystal clear. Thanks to its proximity to the wilderness, this beach has retained its natural authenticity - you can see dense vegetation along the shore, which provides natural shade, which is especially nice on hot days. The ocean here can be quite strong, and unlike beaches protected by coral reefs, the waves at La Cambuse can be high enough to attract water sports enthusiasts.

There are no restaurants or cafes on La Camboise, but the proximity to the airport solves this problem - tourists often praise La Belle Creole and Sabores restaurants. Blue Lagoon, located nearby, offers more entertainment and dining options.

The drive from Mauritius Airport to La Cambuza Beach is only ten minutes by car.

This beach is also popular with locals, especially on weekends when families come here for picnics and outdoor activities. However, due to the lack of developed infrastructure (such as cafes, restaurants or sun lounger rentals), La Cambuse retains a wilderness atmosphere.
