Blue Bay beach is one of the few suitable beach vacations on the east coast of Mauritius. It is located in a part of the coastline protected from big waves by a coral reef. The beach is actually located next to the resort village of Blue Bay, near the former capital of the island, the town of Mahebourg.
The Blue Bay resort also includes the beaches of La Cambuse and Pointe d'Esny.
The sand at Blue Bay Beach is snow white and the water is crystal clear and turquoise. The water on the beach is calm, making it an ideal place for swimming, especially for families with children. A coral reef protects the bay from strong waves, creating a natural pool. The beach is surrounded by palm and casuarina trees, creating a unique tropical atmosphere and providing natural shade for vacationers.
The beach is located next to the Blue Bay Marine Park, which protects the unique coral reefs and rich marine life of the area. Due to this proximity, the beach is considered one of the best places in Mauritius for snorkeling and diving. Here you can see many species of coral, tropical fish and sometimes even turtles. It is only worth considering that part of the beach is occupied by boats transporting tourists to the reserve and the nearby Coconut Island.
Blue Bay beach, like most beaches in Mauritius, is tidal, a natural phenomenon typical of islands surrounded by ocean. At low tide, the water moves further away from the shore, exposing some of the sandy bottom and coral, which can be interesting for walking and exploring the marine life in the shallows. At high tide, the water level rises and the beach becomes ideal for swimming and water activities.
