Mont Choisy Beach

Updated: September 15, 2024

Mont Choisy beach is located in the northwest of Mauritius, in the district of Pamplemousses, near Grand Baie. This picturesque place is located between two famous beaches: Trou aux Biches on one side and Pointe aux Canonniers on the other. The length of the beach is ~3 km.

The beach is separated from the land by dense vegetation - palm trees and casuarinas. Thanks to this, the beach has many shady areas where you can shelter from the sun.

The sandy strip between the tree line and the water's edge, which makes up the main part of Mont Choisy beach, is quite narrow. In recent years, the sea level has continued to rise, gradually eating away at the land. If you're planning a trip to Mauritius, it's worth hurrying to make sure you don't miss the chance to visit one of the island's best beaches - there's a risk that it will eventually go underwater.

Mont Choisy beach is never crowded, making it a popular spot for family vacations and picnics.

It is not recommended to swim further than 25-30 meters from the shore, as the depth begins to increase sharply.

Activities

Mont Choisy is a great place for lovers of all kinds of sports. There are sports grounds for beach volleyball and soccer. Also nearby is the Mont Choisy Le Golf course, which impresses with its impeccable landscaping and volcanic rock features.

In the northern part of Mont Choisy there is a riding club where you can not only get lessons from professionals, but also go on a horseback riding excursion through the picturesque surroundings accompanied by an instructor. And if you come to the beach before 7 am - you can see horses swimming - quite an unusual sight.
